Other Projects
Solar energy is an inexhaustible primary energy resource that can be harnessed effectively for energy production with negligible carbon emissions and greenhouse gas impacts. Australia enjoys some of the highest levels of solar radiation anywhere in the world as the following solar map shows:
AVERAGE SOLAR RADIATION (INSOLATION) ACROSS THE WORLD

SEC has extensively researched the energy infrastructure along the border area between Victoria and NSW, as well as other areas of the country with very high solar insolation.
Sites with very high solar insolation and desirable physical and environmental characteristics are relatively common, however in most cases access to either the national electricity or natural gas grids to the extent necessary to support a large power station is problematic.
Despite the current delays in the various Federal and State schemes intended to support the development of large-scale solar power projects with grants, SEC is continuing to identify and assess suitable sites in these areas for project development.
